As the months grow colder and energy prices continue to rise, people are increasingly turning to fireplaces and wood burners to keep their homes warm.
Not only does a fire, burning merrily in the hearth, keep you toasty and comfortable, it can also help create a lovely ambience. It conjures images of families joining together, or dogs huddling up to the grate.
At Park Timber, we have everything you need to keep the fires burning and the cosiness going.
There’s an art to building a good fire, whether that’s in a stove or in a traditional fireplace. Making sure you have a nice stack of kindling, then building up the logs to ensure good airflow and consistent heat is a genuine skill.
Ensuring you have some fire starters available helps get a fire going quickly. Tuck these at the base of the fire and when they’re lit, they should help the kindling take. Our fire starters are odourless and burn for up to 10 minutes, giving you plenty of time.
Kindling is typically fairly small pieces of dried wood that catch light easily. Our kindling comes at a convenient length that will fit most wood burners and fireplaces. Arrange these above the fire starters and soon you’ll have a fire going.
Finally, you want to build the logs up around the kindling. Logs typically take a little longer to light, which is why you layer the materials up. Fire starters burn very easily, they’ll set the kindling alight. The kindling will burn longer than the fire starters, giving them time to light the larger, more dense logs. Once the logs catch, you can keep the fire topped up with fresh logs as long as you want.
Buying firewood from Park Timber is very straightforward – our timber hard is open, so feel free to drop in and pick up a sack of logs or kindling. You can also buy firewood online and get it delivered.
